Transport

There is minimal public transport in and around Nelson, so we strongly recommend bringing your own vehicle or renting a car.
If you need help getting from the airport, please reach out and we will be able to help link you up with someone else arriving on the same day as you.

Dining

Marahau has a few dining options locally, including two cafes and a great burger joint.

While there is no supermarket or dairy, there is a general store in Kaiteriteri beach (approx. 20mins drive away) but it is more of a Foursquare than anything comprehensive. There are some dining options in Kaiteriteri also, but from experience, we do not recommend it.

We recommend doing larger shops in Motueka (for camping food and drink etc) which is on the way to Marahau from Nelson. (Approx. 40 minutes from Marahau).

If you are coming on the ferry, be aware the food on board leaves a lot to be desired, but there is light at the end of the Cook Strait - Shai Shai's fish 'n' chips in Picton have to be the best we've had.

We will have a coffee cart at the venue, because we are not total savages.

Kayaking and Walks

You're in the Abel Tasman! This is one of the great walks for a reason, and the start of the track is right by the camp ground. The first section is a bit exposed, but there are water taxis to any of the bays within the regional park (Bark Bay is BEST).
The Riwaka Resurgence is another great track over the hill, between Motueka and Kaiteriteri.

There are a number of kayaking hire options available in Marahau and we encourage you to book with the one on site at Old Mcdonald's Farm.
